Ramsgate FC Partner with Charlton Athletic to Deliver a FREE Two-Year Post-16 Education and Football Academy


Ramsgate Football Club agree two-year contract with Charlton Athletic Community Trust to Deliver a FREE two-year Post 16 Education and Football Academy.

Ramsgate football club and Charlton Athletic Community Trust are pleased to announce a two-year partnership to support young football players into full time education within Ramsgate. 

The Ramsgate FC Football and Education Academy will be offered to young players currently in year 11, who are aspiring footballers looking for a new challenge with their future studies. 

The free full time education course will be delivered by SCL (https://www.wearescl.co.uk/) who will deliver either a Level 2 BTEC in Sport or a Level 3 BTEC in Sport. They will also be the option for students to retake GCSE Maths and English if needed. 

Players in the football academy will train 4 times a week at the home of Ramsgate FC the Southwood Stadium and play their league fixtures each week in the National Youth Alliance League against the likes of Bromley FC, Maidstone FC and Dartford FC. 

Michael Ward, Head of Football and Sports Development said this of the partnership: 

“CACT are really excited about this new opportunity within Thanet, we have delivered high quality provision within Kent now for many years. Delivering a fantastic football academy within Ramsgate with direct links into step 4 football will give our players a brilliant platform to perform.” 

“We will offer players excellent exit routes into University, overseas into America via scholarship opportunities or into employability as we will also fund each students FA Level 1. One of the aims is for some our academy players to work within the Ramsgate community as coaches delivering CACT programmes and incentives.”
