Rory Smith - The Squad Fought Hard and Got What Was Deserved Against VCD Athletic
Following yesterday’s 2-2 draw away to VCD Athletic, Rory Smith insisted Ramsgate will take the point, but admitted he and his teammates have higher aspirations.
“Considering our position at half-time, we’ll definitely take the point,” Rory said.
“We were the better team for most parts in the first half, but we slacked off for a short period and that was enough to trail by two goals.”
“We had a penalty saved, an effort cleared off the line, plus many more chances. Their keeper had a good game, but you have to keep your head up and believe that it’ll come in the end.”
“It was an uphill battle from there, but the squad fought hard and we got what we deserved.”
“As I already said - we’ll take the point, but it’s not quite where we wanna be. Eventually we will get there.”
Rory Smith started the game from the bench, but come on in the second half and had a hand in both of the goals.
“I’m happy that I could come on and have an impact from the bench of course,” he said.
“I need to focus on my game, try to earn a starting spot and contribute to the team as much as I can to get where we want to be.”
