Ramsgate Football Club are excited to support U9 and U18 manager Iain Stead as he takes on the London Marathon on 4th October 2020.

Iain is aiming to raise £2500 for his selected charity “Children with Cancer UK”. Ramsgate FC Chairman, James Lawson, has pledged to donate £150 to his cause.

IAIN’S STORY

“My name is Iain Stead, I’m 35 from Ramsgate, Kent. After watching the marathon for years and being totally inspired by people’s efforts to raise money towards good causes and charities close to their heart, I have now taken the plunge and am running myself.

Cancer has played a massive part in mine and my family’s lives.

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Throat Cancer myself at the age of 30, having to endure months and months of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy I know first hand how hard it is to endure these treatments.

As I am a father of three it was so hard to see my children put through the emotional stress of watching me be very ill.

There is no way on earth any child should have to go through such a terrible illness and that is why I would love to help raise as much money as possible to help beat Cancer.

Every day 12 families in the UK receive the devastating news that their child has cancer. Through funding vital specialist research, Children with Cancer UK has done everything in its power to give these children the best chance to survive.

With your support Children with Cancer UK can fund over 60 research projects across the UK accelerating breakthroughs to help drive up childhood cancer survival rates and find kinder, more effective treatments to reduce long-term side effects. This ground breaking research saves children's lives and would otherwise go unfunded.

Knowing treatment can be especially challenging for family life, Children with Cancer UK also helps fund patient family accommodation near hospitals so families can stay together during their children's treatment. We also organise unforgettable days out for children and their families to create memories that will never be lost.

But we still have so much more to do. A single child dying from cancer is one too many. With your support, we are helping to create a future in which every child with cancer survives and experiences the life changing moment when they ring the end of the treatment bell.

Thank you for helping to save the lives of children with cancer and keep families together.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Children with Cancer UK.

Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.”
