Will Graham Reflects on Saturday's FA Cup Disappointment and Sends a Message to the Fans
Ramsgate FC crashed out of the FA Cup in the second-qualifying round on Saturday afternoon and Will Graham has admitted it was a tough result to take.
“We are obviously massively disappointed to be out of the FA Cup,” Will said.
“It was certainly a winnable tie coming into the match, especially with our great form away from home this season.”
“To travel here and be the better side, yet come away with a one-nil loss is tough to take.”
“We can only try to take the positives out of the performance. We’ve had games this season where we’ve gone one-nil down and the confidence of the team has shot away. I don’t think that was the case against Hadley.”
“The squad have worked them until the very end, and we’ll feel unfortunate to not get a goal back. We hit the post, the bar, and then we should’ve had a penalty that wasn’t given.”
“In short, we had the opportunities to equalise and even win the game, but we haven’t had the rub of the green - that has been the case a few times this season.”
Ramsgate must not dwell on Saturday’s performance with an upcoming game around the corner on Tuesday night against Faversham, says Will Graham.
“We have an important Velocity Trophy game on Tuesday. Most clubs will use that as an opportunity to rest key players and blood some youngsters or other players into the side who deserve a chance, but obviously we are only looking to get that winning mentality back.”
“Of course we are going to be mindful of the fitness of the players, we’d be naive to not take that into consideration in midweek,”
“But, we need to buy wins at the moment really. We need to be as positive as we can because we still have a lot to play for this season.”
“Club’s are in ruts at times and it’s our biggest target to overcome the difficult period we are currently in. The side we have is very good, we just need it to click and I have full belief it will work out for us in the end.”
“I need to thank the fans for their continued support this season, it really means a lot, especially during this difficult period. My promise to them is that we are going to try our hardest to put it right.”
